Itinerary of Our Tanzania Safari – Nov 2022

Discover quintessential African landscapes when you explore Tanzania, the perfect African destination for any traveler with open mind and heart to experiencing wildlife and culture, past and present. A relaxed attitude combined with some of the best wildlife spotting on the continent is within affordable reach.
Hit the incredible wildlife spots, namely the Elephant Kingdom –Tarangire National Park, the unique ecosystem of Ngorongoro Crater, the vast Savannah of central Serengeti and Lake Manyara National Park.

The following was our initial itinerary – further posts will describe our actual experiences. Change is inevitable due to weather, sightings by other vehicles and the unexpected.

Day by Day

Day 1: November 1st 2022:Kilimanjaro International Airport/Pazuri Inn: Airport transfer to Pazuri Inn, Arusha for Overnight.

Day 2: November 2nd 2022:Tarangire National Park/Ngorongoro Coffee Lodge.

After breakfast you will be driven 2.30 hours to Tarangire National Park with packed lunch for game mid morning game drive.

  The abundance and diversity of fauna and flora in this ecosystem will be rewarding. You will enjoy seeing both herbivores and carnivores along with an amazing birdlife and beautiful landscape. 
   Apart from accommodating a unique population of elephants in Northern Tanzania, you will also see other game such as giraffes, impalas, wildebeest and if you are lucky, you may see carnivores such as lions, leopard or Cheetah. At 1500 hours, you will be driven 1.30 hours to Karatu where your accommodations is located.

Day 3: November 3rd 2022:Village walk and properties inspections/Ngorongoro Coffee Lodge.

After breakfast you will be driven 25 minutes to Tloma Village to see and experience different activities of the Local iraqw people. This will include visiting a School, Makonde wood carvers, a church, a local distiller, local coffee roasting family and any other activities that you may experience in the village during the walk.


  You will then have Lunch in one of the Lodge you inspect  and continue with more inspection of Kitela Lodge and Marera Valley Lodge. After these inspections you will be driven back to your Lodge and get a short time to relax. Before dinner you will meet with your Naturalist for a short talk about Serengeti ecosystem.

Day 4:November 4th 2022:Serengeti National Park/Serengeti Serena Lodge.

After breakfast, you will be driven to Serengeti National Park . On the way, you will visit one of the Maasai Village for Cultural exposure. After this visit you will proceed to Serengeti entrance gate where you will enjoy your packed lunch at the entrace gate. After your picnic lunch you shall start doing afternoon game drive en route to your lodge, enjoying the varieties of game animals, birds and beautiful landscape.

  Central Serengeti is known to be a felids stronghold hence you will have a chance to see lions, hyenas, Jackals and if you are lucky Cheetahs and Leopards may be seen. Herbivores such as elephants, Giraffes, Buffalos, Impalas, and many more will be seen too. Depending on rain pattern at the time of visit, you may see part of wildebeest migration. Late afternoon you will proceed to your lodge

Dinner and Overnight Serengeti Serena Lodge —Full Board.

Day 5: November 5th 2022: Serengeti National Park/Site inspections/ Serengeti Serena Lodge.

Today you will explore Serengeti National Park by doing full day game drive with packed lunch. You will also do site inspections at Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge and Thorn Tree Semi permanent Camp.

   You will explore Central Serengeti even more and enjoy wildlife such as giraffe, topi, Bohor reedbuck, Defassa waterbuck, buffalos, Impalas, Elephants, Giraffes and Hippos grazing and browsing in different game circuits. 

  You’ ll see carnivores like lions & hyaenas, and perhaps cheetahs & leopards. f the rain pattern at the time of visit is right, you may also see part of great wildebeest migration. The impressive giant rock outcrops (Kopjes) host hyraxes, dwarf mongooses, red-headed agamas and other creatures.

Day 6: November 6th 2022:Ngorongoro Crater/Ngorongoro Serena Lodge.

After breakfast you will depart at 8 AM to the Ngorongoro Crater for mid-morning game drive. Nicknamed the African Garden of Eden, Ngorongoro crater holds the highest concentration of wildlife in Africa, you will see a lots of wildlife at close quarters.
 If you are lucky, you may even see the rare black rhino. At noon enjoy packed Lunch in the Crater floor.After Lunch you will do another short afternoon game drive before you are driven to your Lodge.

Day 7: November 7th, 2022: Lake Manyara National Park/Lake Manyara Serena Lodge. After early breakfast, you will be driven 2 hours to Lake Manyara National Park nestled in the basin of the Great Rift Valley. This small National Park has 7 distinct habitats which are home to quite a few wildlife. 

 You’ll likely see three kinds of small primates: baboons, black faced monkeys and blue monkeys. In addition, impalas, giraffes, cape buffalos, dik diks, elephants, waterbuck, bushbuck, zebras and wildebeest are likely. Then there are the teeming water birds like flamingos, pelicans, storks, ibis etc. 

If water level in Lake Manyara is right, you may see flamingos. In the late afternoon you will proceed to your lodge (30 minutes’ drive) where you shall check in and get a short rest before you meet with your Naturalist for the Fam debriefing.

Day 8: November 8th 2022: Arusha/ Tanzania/Kenya Namanga boarder.

After breakfast you will be driven 2:30 hours back to Arusha with packed lunch. At Arusha you will do your last shooping at cultural heritage center and eat your picnic lunch here. After picnic lunch, your will shift into one bus for transfer to Tanzania/Kenya border (1.45 hours drive) where you will meet the Kenya Operator vehicles and you shall continue to Nairobi.
